Face Forward.

I rarely wear makeup other than lip gloss, so I need to take care of my skin if I want to keep that level of lazy up (and I do!). I learned this lesson gradually. When I turned 20, I made sure to use a proper face wash and moisturizer. At 25, I added in sunscreen, toner, and an exfoliator. When I turned 30, I added in moisturizing serum. I started using the Tao Clean Orb about 7 months ago (it is linked in my Memorial Day sale post if you want to check it out). I had never used a brush like this before and it made a huge difference in my skin, especially during the winter when my face was extra dry.

About that time, I started to think about really investing in my skin care. I am (quickly) approaching my “mid 30s” and there is so much more I probably should be doing with my skin. However, there are SO many products out there that it is overwhelming. There are hyaluronic products, vitamin c serums, rose waters, etc and I was not sure which products to use, in what order, and with what other products. My skin is also very sensitive, so I worry about which products might cause irritation. I started searching for skincare lines that had sample or trial size packs. I did not want to spend a lot of money on products without knowing how my skin would react to them.

The Discovery Kit.

There are several trial size lines, but the best deal I found is the discovery kit from Eight Saints (referral link). It is only $10 with FREE shipping and it has TWELVE products. The kit typically comes with 6 products for day and 6 products for night. Each product is individually packaged and labeled, and the kit comes with an instruction card with a suggested sequence for the products. The back of the card describes each of the products and its use. The eight “saints” refer to eight ingredients that the company believes offer the most benefits to your skin. The products are also cruelty free.

This is the PERFECT kit if you are just starting to focus on your face, if you want to add new products to your existing routine, if you want to find out what the hype is with all the new treatments or serums, or if you just want to have a spa day at a great price.

These are the products that come in the kit:

Bright Side (Cleanser): This creamy cleanser has an infusion of vitamin E to revive tired skin and replenish moisture. The card notes that it is best for dry and sensitive skin. The cleanser is white and lightweight with a light citrus scent. It does not foam, and it did not burn my sensitive skin. The consistency is like lotion. I personally prefer a foaming cleanser, but I did not have any issues using this cleanser.

Zen Out of Ten (Scrub): The card notes that this scrub accelerates cell turnover, plus delivers antioxidants and bioflavonoids to the new skin layer. The scrub is tan in color with visible exfoliating beads. You should use it 3-4 times per week. I used it every other day. I was afraid that the beads might be too harsh on my skin, but they did not cause any pain or irritation.

Pep Rally (Hyaluronic Serum): This formula brightens skin tone, minimizes pores, and protects against free radicals. It has a gel consistency that goes on nicely and with a pleasant smell. It feels refreshing.

Seeking C (Vitamin C Serum): Unfortunately, this product was out of stock when I ordered my kit. It has AMAZING reviews on their website and I still want to try it. This serum reduces skin inflammation and irregular pigmentation, promotes healthy collagen production, and naturally prevents acne.

Soulmate (Treatment): This is a skin brightening moisturizer with hyaluronic and glycolic acids. It has a thick lotion consistency and a light citrus scent. You can use it as a makeup primer and it pairs well with Pep Rally. I love this product!

Daydreamer (Moisturizer): This daily moisturizer is a blend of oils and hyaluronic acid. It looks and feels like Soulmate, but with a lighter scent. It takes a few seconds to absorb.

PM

Down to Earth (Cleanser): This is a swirled mud gel cleanser. It has a light scent and is tan in color. The card notes that it is best for normal to oily and combination skin. However, I have dry to combination skin and it works well for me. I do not typically use a cleanser like this and I am pleasantly surprised that it leaves my face feeling clean and soft.

No Plans (Mask): This is a desert rose clay mask with a kaolin base. You use it 1-2 times per week. This product is thick with a light rose smell. It does not leave a residue upon removal. It was a little too harsh for my skin and I only used it twice during the month.

Night Shift (Face Gel): This face gel is made with vitamins C and E and it is enriched with peptides to stimulate collagen production and jojoba oil to address fine lines and dryness. It smelled like cucumbers and reminded me of a facial. It is the perfect prep to go under the other PM products.

All In (Eye Cream): The eye cream is made with cucumber and green tea, MSM to brighten, vitamin C to counteract eye puffiness and dark circulation, and olive oil-based squalene to boost blood circulation. It is white and creamy and smells like cucumber. It is VERY moisturizing. I also used this one in the AM sometimes!

High Society Oil (Face Oil): The product is made with marula, jojoba, and neroli oils to offer intense hydration while smoothing lines. This is my FAVORITE product out of the bunch. I was hesitant to use this product since I do not like touching anything oily. I also worried it would not absorb, it would make me oily, it would stain my pillowcase, etc., but I was raving about this product right after using it. My face feels so good at bedtime and it absorbs and leaves my face fresh and moisturized in the morning.

Cloud Whip (Moisturizing Cream): The key ingredient is vitamin c and it blocks free radicals, fades sunspots, and prevents discoloration while locking in moisture. It has a light lemon scent and it is thick and luxurious. It goes on easily over the High Society Oil. My skin feels SERIOUSLY amazing at bedtime.

The Results.

The kit ships super quick. I am so happy that I tried this skincare line! It was an incredible deal to try all these products and figure out what works for my skin. For 14 days, I used only the Eight Saints products. I used them twice per day and in the recommended sequence. On day 14, my skin was smoother and I had a more even complexion. I did not notice a change in my pores, but my skin was brighter.

For me, the nighttime products worked better than the daytime products so from May 15 to May 29, I reincorporated my previous face wash and moisturizer into my daytime routine.  I continued to use the rest of the products except for the No Plans mask. I am very happy with my routine and how my skin looks today. I even look forward to taking care of my skin at night, which I struggled with before since I shower in the morning.

Even if you decide not to order full size products from Eight Saints, the discovery kit helps you decide if a type of product is right for you. If you do decide to order full size products, the Discovery Kit comes with a coupon and there also sales on the website at various times.

Whether you are in your teens, 20s, 40s, or 60s, it is never too early or too late to put your best face forward.

What are you waiting for?

Katie G.

P.S. The men are not left out! There is a similar sample kit from Brickell Men’s Products (referral link). My husband tried the kit earlier this month and has since added in some Brickell products to his skin care routine.
