Get on Board, A Series of Delicious Food Boards: Fries
For the past several weeks, we have had the chance to try some delicious food boards. We had a scrumptious bagel board brunch, a delectable burger board, and a party perfect cheese board. This week, we are back on board with fries. This fry board is a great side dish for your next cookout or family meal. We each chose our favorite type of fry for the board and we added some tasty and flavorful dips.
For this board, we used six types of fries and eight different sauces. We typically make our fries in the air fryer, but this many fries could not be made in the air fryer at the same time. In order to make sure all the fries could be served warm, I baked them in the oven first on 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Once they were fully cooked, I kept them in the oven to stay warm and put small batches in the air fryer if they needed to be crisped. While they were cooking, I made the dips that needed to be mixed and let them cool and thicken in the refrigerator.
The Fries.
- Steak Fries (my favorite…they hold a lot of dip!)
- Curly Fries
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Fast Food Fries
- Waffle Fries
- Tater Tots
The Sauces.
- Guacamole (surprisingly good)
- Ranch (old favorite)
- Cheese (staple)
- Hummus (surprisingly good)
- Sweet Chili Sauce (sweet and spicy!)
- Copycat Campfire Sauce (perfect for steak fries)
- Copycat Chick-fil-A Sauce (made for waffle fries)
- Garlic Pepper Aioli (SO YUM on the tots)
The Recipes.
Some of the sauces on my board were store bought, but you could certainly make them all homemade. These are the recipes for the four homemade sauces on my board (mix and chill):
Sweet Chili Sauce
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons sriracha
1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
Copycat Campfire Sauce
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1/8 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Copycat Chick-fil-A Sauce
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon honey barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon honey
Garlic Pepper Aioli
1/3 cup mayonnaise
Juice from 1 small lemon
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon ketchup (we love red gold!)
What kind of fries are your favorite? Am I still putting sauce on everything? Maybe. Time to get back on board!
