Style Round Up: Fall Fashion Favorites Under Fifty Dollars

Does anyone else feel like their fall outfits resemble a uniform?

Step 1: Put on jeans (maybe a dress or skirt if I’m feeling feisty)

Step 2: Add a henley or sweater

Step 3: Choose between booties or tall boots…BUT WAIT, sometimes I jazz it up with a jacket or a vest!

All jokes aside, I love fall fashion. I love being able to be cozy, but not bulky (like when I wear my winter coat in a restaurant during the winter…haha). I love layers and affordable pieces I can use over and over again in my fall “uniform” throughout the season. Fall can be expensive with trendy boots, boutique sweaters, and fashionable leather and suede jackets. My fashion philosophy is to keep fast fashion affordable, invest in staple pieces you can wear season after season, and mix affordable pieces and expensive pieces.

Boots

Shoes are something that can definitely be an investment piece and oftentimes, a higher price point can mean better quality. However, I have many {MANY} boots in various colors and styles, so I considered the boots I was looking for this season as “fast fashion”. Therefore, I wanted them to be affordable. I managed to find two pairs of boots from Target that are affordable, comfortable, and good quality. They run true to size. They are each less than $40.

Many other comparable boots from DSW, Macy’s, Nordstrom etc. were double or triple the cost. These boots pair perfectly with fall dresses and skirts, leggings, or jeans.

Jeans

Jeans can also be an investment piece. However, for me, it truly depends on if I am looking for something trendy or long-lasting. For fall, I was looking for some trendy denim and I did not want to spend much since I might not wear them during the winter.

It has been years since I purchased denim from Old Navy because I was not fond of the fit of their jeans in years past. The rise was too high, they ran too big, they stretched out terribly after one wear, and don’t get me started on the back pockets!

Because I did not want to spend much on new fall jeans, I decided to look at Old Navy anyway, HOPEFUL that there would be a change…and I was PLEASANTLY surprised! I found two pairs of denim that I love. These jeans are dark wash, the back pocket placement is just right (if the pockets are too far apart and/or too big, it makes your bottom look flat!), they do not stretch out, and they are $35 or less. They also come in different lengths and several different sizes. They run true to size.

Outerwear

I LOVE jackets and coats. Utility jackets, trench coats, moto jackets…give them all to me! I routinely purchase the same jacket in at least two colors when I find one I really love. I loved the suede and faux suede moto jackets in the Nordstrom anniversary sale this year, but I didn’t like the price tag.

Luckily, I searched Amazon and found a lovely option. There are a few different colors available, but I love the green because it is a perfect and versatile fall color. This jacket runs true to size unless you are busty and you plan to zip it all the way up. It is less than $45, and it is SUPER soft and comfortable. This is a steal!

Tops

I purchased a few different sweaters and tops for this fall season, but my favorites were definitely affordable basics. I love these henleys from Old Navy and I might have purchased three or four. They look great on their own, but they also fit perfectly under flannels, vests, and jackets. They are a slim fit, so size up one to two sizes for a roomier fit. Their affordable price tag also makes them the perfect option to add some new fall colors to your wardrobe like mustard, maroon, or turquoise.

This season I started buying sweaters from H & M. I loved some of the trendy fall sweaters from local boutiques, but some of them were $50+ and I could not justify that price tag since I wanted a few different options.

H & M carries several sweaters that are perfect fall basics for less than $25. I have been wearing these sweaters all season. Sizing can be tricky with H & M with some pieces running very small (mostly dresses and skirts), while others, like this sweater are very roomy. I pay close attention to the reviews and they point me in the right direction.
